Star Wars: The Rising Storm Excitement!

So I knew that Cavan Scott’s entry in the High Republic series, The Rising Storm, was released today, and of course I had it on pre-order. I was expecting to get the book in a few days, as it took Light of the Jedi a few days after its release to get to my door. But I was surprised when I came home from work and there it was: a small, square Amazon box. The fact that it was the day after my birthday made it all the more special. Happy birthday to me!

I’ve been looking forward to this.

Needless to say, I’ve begun reading it and am a few chapters in. Can’t wait to review this one.

In other book news, I just realized today that I had Justina Ireland’s middle grade book A Test of Courage on my Kindle. I had no idea it was there, or how it got there, lol, but I must have ordered it. I may never have known if I hadn’t clicked on an email in my inbox advertising some of the High Republic books on sale for $4.99 on Kindle. I figured I’d get that one for that price, but when I went to order it, it said “You Already Own This.” I do? I looked it up on my Kindle, and there it was, lol. I must have paid full price for it, then, but that’s okay. So two new High Republic books today!

I haven’t read anything with Vernestra Rwoh in it, so it will be nice to meet her in this one.

And a few days ago, I also downloaded Alex Segura’s Poe Dameron: Free Fall on Kindle, since it, too, was only $4.99 (along with Queen’s Peril). Lots of Star Wars book sales these days (I’m like a kid in a candy store), especially on Kindle. I like to own the hard copies of the books, but I’ll start with the Kindle version without hesitation, and then upgrade to hard copy for the bookshelf collection.

The YA novels in Star Wars are just as excellent as the adult novels, in my experience.

So a lot of Star Wars book excitement this week, and I can’t wait to read them all!

Have you read any of these books? What did you think? Let me know and we’ll talk about it!

  1. Wee excited for you and your new books!! I am a bit of a kindle fan myself. There are a few ways to get free books for kindle legally (lol) if you’re interested in reading other genres let me know. I’ve planned to write a blog post all about how to get free books to read online but just haven’t had time 🙂
